Map the Display and Payment Hardware

Keep closures away from protruding readers and edges that could abrade fabric or place pressure on screens.
Identify Vents, Fans, Drainage, and Refrigeration Zones
Show every intake, exhaust, condenser area, drain, and manufacturer-required clearance. Because the machine is covered only when properly powered down, these locations guide safe preparation and inspection rather than covered operation. Do not use a flap as permission to run refrigerated or heated equipment beneath fabric. If decommissioning procedures require doors open, moisture controls, or specific spacing, follow those requirements exactly.
Measure the Base, Feet, and Anchoring Hardware
Record cabinet-to-floor clearance, leveling feet, skids, plinths, bolt covers, and any anti-tip or anchoring hardware. Keep the finished hem above standing water and abrasive floor edges. Lower buckles can reduce wind lift at an exposed storage location, but they must not attach to electrical conduit, refrigeration lines, small panels, or security hardware. Plan Service Access Without Hiding Condition
During long storage, operators may need to inspect identification, seals, pest controls, moisture indicators, or the cabinet exterior. A labeled flap can support an approved inspection point, but the full cover should come off for service, reconnection, cleaning, or operational checks. Keep an inspection log and report condensation, corrosion, damage, tampering, or leaks immediately instead of closing the cover over the problem.
Control Dust and Moisture Before Installation
Clean and dry the cabinet using approved methods, and confirm no food residue, packaging, or standing water remains. Construction sites may generate fine dust that enters through gaps, while outdoor walkways add wind-driven rain and humidity. A fitted cover reduces direct exposure but does not replace sanitation, pest management, drainage, environmental controls, or the machine manufacturer’s long-term storage procedure.

Clean and sanitize the unit, restore inventory controls, and reconnect power only through the approved process. Confirm normal operation before the machine returns to customer access. Record the cover’s condition, clean and dry it, and store it in a labeled location rather than behind or on top of the operating machine.
