Measure the Full Outside Size

Start with width, depth, and height. Measure the full outside size, including handles, wheels, frames, shelves, control boxes, pipework, or raised edges that should be covered. Do not measure only the main equipment body if external parts also need protection.

For machines with uneven shapes, record the widest point, deepest point, and highest point. If there are areas that should not be covered, note those separately.

Check Whether Ventilation or Access Is Needed

Some equipment covers may need ventilation, access openings, zippers, flaps, handles, or fastening details. A generator cover, for example, may have different needs during storage than during active use. Always clarify how the cover will be used.
